Software Developer (Arches Platform)

About this role

This role involves developing and maintaining heritage information systems built on the open-source Arches platform, including creating new features, managing data pipelines, and supporting public-facing applications for Historic England. The ideal candidate has proven experience building secure enterprise web applications with strong proficiency in Python and Django, modern JavaScript with component frameworks, SQL database work, and ETL processes. A standout requirement is that all code is developed in public open-source repositories from day one, meaning developers work transparently in the open rather than in private systems.
