About this role

This engineering management role leads a technical team that builds and maintains Gitaly, the Git data storage layer behind GitLab, and supports other GitLab teams on scalability, tooling, and new data formats. The position suits someone who can guide senior and staff engineers through complex, long-running technical projects while balancing roadmap delivery with codebase upkeep and fostering rigor and clear ownership. A notable requirement is that all team members are expected to incorporate AI tools into their daily work as a core productivity practice.
